I would like to welcome you on my blog, this is the first time I created a blog online with the one intention to write about certain subjects and to receive feedback.

I am a student at the Hogeschool Utrecht and studying International Communication and Media, I am twenty years old and currently living in Utrecht. I love to travel and my main goal is to see the entire world and to therefore meet new people and experience different cultures.

There are many different social networking types for instance; Hyves, My-space, Msn, Flicker and many more. Within these social networking types you can create your own profile which contains mostly your personal information, where you live, how you look like, name, favorite movies, music style and so on. You can place pictures on your site, videos and also create your own blog.

For instance I have a hyves site as well, I only use it when people talk to me and when I’m in a creative mood, I do have some friends on this site but I only talk to maybe ten of them. Just for fun I created a buddy poke, this is a gadget which you can get you can create your own mini-me online, and your friends can leave messages and do funny things with my mini-me such as: giving me a big hug, asking me on a date, gossiping, when someone is angry with me they can hit me or look at me angrily and so many more.

What is mostly fun about Hyves is you can keep contact with your friends, when I was in London for four months I could create a blog which my friends could read. People react to my blog and are asking for details or saying that they are jealous. Herby my friends would feel as if they were with me in London, they could see the movies, pictures and blog which I put on the site. And the best thing is that you can keep your profile private, this means not everyone is able to look at your pictures or at the notes which your friends left.

Overall social networking threw the internet is great, the best part is that the internet keeps on changing and new gadgets will be created to enhance your networking abilities, for instance my mini-me, this only exists for maybe three weeks and it is already a huge success. I certainly hope that the internet keeps on changing to make it easier for us to use the internet and maybe to create a better way of networking, a way of communicating with everyone without the noise in between.   

However web 1.0 was a great break-through within the World Wide Web, technology enhances and a new version for the World Wide Web has been created, Web 2.0.

Web 2.0 is the opposite of Web 1.0, it is an interactive web, you can create a blog, my-space, hyves, msn, video sharing like you-tube. Almost everyone has a my-space or hyves, these are websites where you can create your own profile, showing pictures and viewers can leave a message. Web 2.0 is a interesting way of creating a website not only for personal use, also for organizational usage, visitors can see more information, the organization can give many pictures, demonstration video’s etc. This keeps the viewer coming back for more, for instance the news channel can broadcast there news not only threw radio or television but also through the Internet and this will reach millions of people.

Web 2.0 isn’t only more interesting for the viewer by giving more information, it also is easier to use. If you want to find information about let’s say; croissants, you can type the word into a searching machine and it will find information about croissants, however it isn’t always information you can use. You can also be very specific; I want to know something about the banana’s made in Spain, Barcelona. The searching machine will therefore again search as much information as it can give.

Now web 2.0 is finished and fully accepted by everyone who has every used the Internet, technicians are already thinking of a new and improved web 2.0 therefore creating web 3.0. This is still in a beginning face and very speculative, however we can expect better connection, databases, charring, easy to use etc. I keep thinking what kind of revolution will we be facing within the next twenty years? computers who can talk for you, you no longer have to type or you can transport your image in 3D.
